I really liked the achievements added for the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy on steam. They really pushed the player to catch interesting bits of game dialog that most would have missed if they played the original games - thus adding something extra to folks re-playing the remake. | |

Even though I've yet to fully complete it, I personally find playing through the Resident Evil 2 remake to be a blast. While some of the achievements/trophies might seem a bit challenging to do, it's still a great game to play nonetheless and a faithful recreation of an iconic sequel. Oh, and then there are the free updates (The Ghost Survivors & Another Survivor). (As a side note, I honestly cannot wait to play the Resident Evil 3 remake when it arrives next year.) |

Going out on a limb (wing?) and voting for Untitled Goose Game. Unique art style, gameplay, and all the honking you could ever hope for. The achievements are fairly straightforward, with speed runs adding an additional challenge. A great game to relax with, or to take frustration out by chasing unsuspecting children. Worth a gander. |

I would also nominate Resident Evil 2. It has typical progression style achievements, but it adds in some pretty funny ones like shooting the hat off of the Tyrant while still having some challenging ones like no healing and not opening the item box. A pretty unique one as well would be taking the least amount of steps. There's a handful of achievements in the game that require you to play a different way that you may normally and encourages experimentation with the defensive items that you get. On top of that it's a great game with weekly challenges provided by Capcom to keep the player coming back for more, giving you even more reason to go for maybe just one more achievement if you missed it while you're taking care of a challenge. |

Thanks for the nomination! Not sure how to handle this nomination though... Spyro is a valid nomination since it was released for Windows and Switch in 2019, and had releases for ps4/xb1 in 2018. It however won the 1st place for best achievements in 2018. So not sure we want a game to compete twice... Or maybe we should just let it? |

Ahh understood. I personally just got it for PC since I don't own a PS4, didn't realize it came out last year! I don't know if it would be fair if it did technically release in 2018 haha. |

Well I wrote the nomination rules as: The game must have been released in 2019. So by that definition it is ok. |

Disco Elysium because it deserves all the awards. One of the most well crafted games of the decade and the achievement list seems suitably designed so as not to interfere with the players approach or sense of immersion. You will look forward to replaying this game regardless of picking up a missed achievement or two, they're just a nice caveat to go with along with it. I actually avoided playing the game midway through for 2 months so I could savour my first playthrough for a little while longer. Games like this don't come along often. |

Like last year, I'm gonna go ahead and pick three games I think are perfect for achievement hunting, yet every single one for a different set of reasons. My main nomination for this year would be the long awaited, beautifully crafted, unique and cheerful indie game named Indivisible. The game blends genres of RPG, platformer and metroidvania, together with Valkyria Profile inspired combat and creates a exceptional video game amalgam wrapped in a charmingly hand-drawn style animation that no passionate gamer should leave unnoticed. As Indivisible does not contain any missable or frustrating achievements, yet all the unlocks feel rewarding, the game is perfect of any achievement aficionado. For the endurance completionists that seek peace of mind trough patience and perseverence, who can reach mindfulness only trough becoming one with the game by exploring everything, getting everything and doing everything I am nominating and recommending Death Stranding. Game that is certainly not for everybody, yet perfect for an achievement guru that seeks a long-term relationship that is both enlightening and rewarding. And lastly I would like to nominate Remnant: From the Ashes as it was a game that ticked multiple boxes of my completionist appetite. Remnant is a hot sauce made up from all the good achievements. Some require skill, some require patience, some require luck. It can be challenging, it can be grindy, but always rewarding and easily replayable and most importantly - whole game can be experienced with two fellow hunters. A perfect achievement hunting adventure. |
