In order to add platforms/games, we need to be able to access it's data somehow. The more information you can provide us, the bigger are the odds that we will be able to add the platform/game.

While we certainly want almost all platforms/games represented on metagamerscore, the difficulty of adding the platforms/games varies greatly depending on what can be accessed over the internet. As such, we will not have time to implement things that have a minor user-base and is difficult for us to add.

There are 6 main categories of achievements exposed by games/platforms:

  1. Public Web-API
    - A public API is a simplified data structure whose sole intent is to allow for sharing of the data. Here is an example of the kongregate badge api.
If you find a public web-api for a game/platform, we can add it pretty much straight away.

  2. Private Web-API
    - A private API looks just like the public web-api, but it cannot be accessed without being granted permission from the developer of the game/platform.
An example of this is dev.battle.net. If it's free to sign up, it is likely that we can add it straight away also.

  3. Public Webpage
    - A Public webpage is a page that has the achievements earned from a user visible without logging in.
An example of this is the medal page over at Newgrounds.
Collecting data from a public webpage varies in difficulty depending on how the webpage is created/layed out.

  4. Private Webpage - view anyone
    - In this category, we have pages that require login, but when logged in you can view anyones achievements.
Gathering data from these is much more difficult, and many pages explicity disallow it.
If your proposed platform/game is within this category, it is very unlikely that we'll attempt to add support for it unless it is a very trendy/popular game.

  5. Private Webpage - view yourself
    - In this category, we have pages that require login, and when you are logged in you can only view your own achievments.
If your proposed platform/game is within this category, we will not add support for it.
Gathering data from these would require us to store your login and password in our databases in plain text, and that is something that we will not do due to security issues.

  6. Achievements only visible in game
    - In this category, we have games that have achievements but they are only visible while in the game.
If your proposed platform/game is within this category, we will not add support for it.

If your suggested platform/game is in category 1 or 2, we suggest you find a link to your page on the api, or the signup page for the api and post it as a new thread in this forum. Odds are great that we'll find time to add it very soon!

If your suggested platform/game is in category 3 or 4, we suggest you contact the developer of the platform/game first and suggest to them that they create an api for us to use. This is usually not difficult for a coder to do; but it can sometimes be difficult actually getting into contact with the correct person. We don't have any magical powers that allows us to contact other platform/game developers better than you, so we suggest you try to find their contact information yourself and send them a mail or call or write on their forum.
It is usually also more powerful if their actual players asks for getting an api added. Feel free to also write in a thread in this forum posting a link to your profile, and write that you've sent them a mail.

If your suggested platform/game is in category 5 or 6, we suggest you follow the steps above about contacting the game/platform developer directly, and post in a thread here that you've done so.

At the end of the day - the more things you can do to help, like finding the correct link or sending emails/writing forums - the more time we can actually focus on adding the platforms/games.

You should just state that for those in Category 6, it cannot be done.
