Little Kitty, Big City https://store.steampowered.com/app/1177980/Little_Kitty_Big_City/ Super cute and cozy open world platformer about a kitten who goes out on an adventure after misplacing themself outside of their apartment. There are various types of achievements including quests, interactions, and discoveries. Plays smooth and none broken. Crypt Custodian https://store.steampowered.com/app/2394650/Crypt_Custodian/ I have only just started this one, so I'm not too far into it, but it plays smooth, has achievements, and has overwhelmingly positive ratings. Final Fantasy XVI https://store.steampowered.com/app/2515020/FINAL_FANTASY_XVI/ Varied achievements from main story to side quests, completionist activities, and difficulty. Pretty standard fare achievement wise really. But I enjoyed it a lot and I appreciate some of the unspoken details during the main story and otherwise. Gori: Cuddly Carnage https://store.steampowered.com/app/1299690/Gori_Cuddly_Carnage/ I only played the demo, but it seems like a pretty top-notch game. Achievements seem standard fare from just playing the story to challenging ones for gold medals and difficulty modes. Halls of Torment - Edit: 13/01/25. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2218750/Halls_of_Torment/ Action roguelike with Diablo-esque vibes. Varied achievements of progress, difficulty, and challenges. Goat Simulator 3 - Edit: 16/01/25. https://store.steampowered.com/app/850190/Goat_Simulator_3/ Achievements are about as weird as the game. I suppose that makes sense though. |

Game with good achievements needs the four pillars -few easy ones to start -progression -chase (doing something specific) -grind If your game has all 4 of these, then the 100% feels much better and I'm likely to go after it on some level. That being said: Against the storm https://store.steampowered.com/app/1336490/Against_the_Storm/ Stardew Valley https://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/Stardew_Valley/ Deep Rock Galactic https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/ These have a great combo of "Wow, here's a few for just getting your feet wet" to "Wow... that is going to take forever" |

You're right. I was just thinking what I was playing in 2024 or what is still worthy in 2024 but none of my nominations count | |

I loved Wukong as a game and also to do the 100% completion. Prince of Persia the lost crown also was a good one for me. |

A bit difficult for me to find a game this year but here we go: Papa's Pizzeria Deluxe This is a "deluxe reimagining of Papa's Pizzeria [from 2007]". Despite it's restaurant setting and customers voting based on time used, it is a relaxing pizza-making game. Unless it is a closer, the customers will also forgive you for most small to medium mistakes (i.e. still give you 80%/90% instead of 0, allowing you to get the best reaction from them). When this was released on Kongregate back in 2007, it had four achievements (all removed now btw) and arguably looked very different than the (paid) Steam version today. As the badges state, there were 36 customers in the original 2007 game, the Steam version have 151! Also several additional features and minigames I imagine they developed over the course of the seventeen years. And of course, what you have been waiting for: it also has 90 achievements instead of Kongregate's four. As far as I can tell (based on my progress and the similar Papa's Freezeria), they are evenly split over the course of the game (not too many at once nor long periods without any). Many are earned automatically as you progress though the game, others are like "secret reactions". Also worth mentioning that unlike the original game, there is NO achievement for getting gold on every customer! (which would require an insane amount of time, way more than the average person would want to spend on this game) As a bonus, the achievements (called stickers) can be used in-game for cosmetic purposes. |

Backpack Hero ( Console release 2024 ) This game about organizing inventory really captured my heart. The village-building metagame in story mode is done to a nice level, not too detailed but also not too empty. The achievements require you to explore the game fully, but doesn't ask more than that which is a nice level for a game of this size. |
