Greetings.

I have been on Roblox for over 11 years. 7 of those years were spent on collecting as many badges as I possibly could.

For a long time, the only way to figure out what your badge collection was worth was via the badge count on your profile. Seeing the count reach higher and higher was terrific to me. Every time Roblox did something that made things worse, I always had my collecting hobby to rely on. It helped me get through the tougher times of being a Roblox fan.

When Roblox decided to remove the number count on profiles, it was up to the badge community to figure out who had how much. Long story short, the Global Badge Leaderboard became the main way of checking badges. For every badge you have collected, only one number comes out; the only way to go from there is up.

When I found out about the Roblox badge support on this site, I was ecstatic. Finally, there was a way to showcase the effort I put in.

Finding out about what counts as spam games made me feel a bit off. "But I put effort into getting those kinds of badges! This sucks." A few weeks passed by, and I suddenly gained an epiphany.

I realized that I loved collecting badges that required skill to get than all of the badges that were in those spam games. Figuring out what to do and how to get them was and always will be 100 times more fun than the spam games.

A million badges don't matter to me if the majority are duds.

So, for the last two weeks, I have been working on a Python script that can take badges off an account. You can delete badges from every place specified very quickly. This is useful for badge chains, badge walks and other spam games.

It's partially finished; before I publicly release it, I want to produce a list of places that are considered spam. It would make the process much easier for others.

To do that, I want to connect my Roblox account to this account and let the scanner search for every badge I have collected. Then, I can have a huge database of games that are spam. I will also check for misidentified non-spam games.

This is the reason why I have posted about this now. It would be nice to whitelist me from being auto-invalidated so this step is done a lot quicker.

I won't put my account into the queue right after this is posted; I have a list of a few couple places that I want to take off my account. Once I'm done with those, I will reply to this topic and give around an hour or so before submitting my account to the queue.

If there are any things that I should consider before then, then please let me know.

I am optimistic about what's next to come. I hope you all have had a great August! 👋

Very interesting, I will forward this.

How many games/badges (roughly) do you want to scan?

Hey there!

I have recently found out I had a lot more places/players to check & badges to delete than I previously thought, so it might take a few more weeks before this account is added. I'm going to try and optimize the script to make it quicker, but I already know that this process will take as long as it needs to.

As for how many games to scan... I don't have a rough estimate of how many games I obtained their badges for. Roblox doesn't really show you those kinds of details. Maybe around 10k to 15k games? It's definitely a lot, and it's most likely that I'm lowballing the number.

I think it would be easier to figure out the upper limit of Roblox games with badges rather than finding my game count.

There are over 40 million games on Roblox; the majority of them don't have badges. Da_NormalGuy had scanned the Roblox badge database for badges with the typical "welcome", "X visits" or "you came" names, up to before the "5 free badges per day" update started (Feb 24, 2022).

There are around 24,000 "legacy" welcome badges. Some badges are connected to the same game, and there are some games where none of the badges are possible to collect now. Also, this doesn't include any games with badges that don't have welcome badges.

I'm going to suggest that there are probably 25k old valid games, where valid means that a modern Roblox user can obtain at least one badge from them.

After the badge update, it gets a lot more muddy and speculative. Badge chains appear from this update and really convolute the numbers. I would suggest that the amount of games with "free badges" would be around 200k. Most (and I mean *most*) are counting those badge chains, so there would be around 35k valid games (and counting) with badges that were made after the update.

So, 25k "old" games and 35k "new" games equals around 60k valid games. Take this with a heavy amount of salt.

I hope that I was as clear as I could. There might be someone out there who has calculated this much better than I have. I really hope that once I'm finished with the deletion part of the script I can start to prioritise more to the spam game part of it.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for sharing the heartfelt write-up! I'm very happy to see you desiring to focus on significant badges rather than spam! Those are the ones that we can look back on and remember with nostalgia and a sense of accomplishment in a way that the vapid ones cannot.

@Dango360, I sent you a message to the email you used to register to the site.

Cheers!
