So there are some way to get every achievement at once legitimately, like by joining a friends farm in Stardew Valley. Achievements don't work for me in that game, but nonetheless I am curious as to what would happen if someone suspected you of cheating for this. Would the owner of the achievements be automatically banned if the banner thinks that they cheated, or will they be notified that they are a suspect of cheating? I just want to know in case something like this happens to me, Thanks | |

Hi! Great questions, as it can be tricky for us to answer, so apologies for the maybe lengthy reply. In short, worst case scenario, you will be incorrectly marked temporarily.
So, all of our users are welcomed to report about suspicious activity to us. In many cases, they correctly spotted cheating, and on some occasions, we the moderators, have identified that the unlocks are actually legit - but may have appeared like it was cheated, but there is a known reason for this. Basically, posting a report here in the forum is only that, a report. Nothing is automatic, we the moderators will begin investigating what is mentioned, and also what isn't mentioned in the report.
Nothing is done automatically. What we will do is look into what is being mentioned in the report. This point varies depending on the case of course, but if you were to spot a potential cheat of 1 or a handful obscure achievements - we would discuss this internally to figure out if this is in fact true or not. However, if the report is pointing to SAM-like unlocks, we take WHAT games are affected, HOW MANY games are affected, WHEN it occurred and how impactful this cheat is on your overall score.
Then we cannot conclude you did in fact cheat. Your score would not be invalidated
If the user shows multiple games to have the same unlock timestamps, without any known reason, and the games that are suspected of cheating is of high score or makes up a large portion of their score - then, their score will be marked as invalid. Now, I would like to point out that we are very forgiving, if you have cheated in the past and have resolved it via achievementhunting by relocking the affected achievements, you will have your score reinstated like nothing ever happened. We want everyone to enjoy this hobby, but the competitiveness of it must be ensured. All score invalidations are temporary, in the sense of reverting the cheating will get you back in the game like everyone else (there may be some exceptions to this, for example online games where you can't revert progress and achievements).
So far, I have not personally reached out to anyone for being suspected of cheating, nor being banned. Maybe it is because almost all cases have been obvious cases of cheating. We absolutely welcome anyone that is being accused, or has had their score invalidated, to reach out to us here in the forums to discuss it. Once again, score invalidations are essentially temporary - it is fully revertable.
Reach out to us, explain the situation. We should have some brief points in the original report that led us to make a decision, so we would discuss that at some point. If we find our decision to be incorrect, we will re-validate your score like nothing happened. Of course, we will also take this knowledge with us, so in the case we receive similar reports, we can conclude early on that is in fact not cheating. Hmm... maybe it was longer than I thought, but I think you brought some great questions. I think this topic could maybe be pinned here for others curious of this stuff. (Hopefully not to be better at cheating, but most importantly to know that making an incorrect report on someone isn't as detrimental as they may have thought - maybe we will receive more reports?) Hopefully this gives you "some" insight of how we (I am speaking based on personal experience only) approach the various reports in this forum. Cheers! ^^ |

Thank you! This is a lot of really helpful information and I feel a lot safer on the site knowing if someone thinks I cheated, I'll have a chance to explain things and keep my account from being invalidated or banned, and I do hope other people find this information useful! ^^ |
